Getting Started – Applying For NHS Continuing Healthcare
Guidance and advice to help you get your relative properly assessed for Continuing Healthcare
- Concerned your relative should be receiving Continuing Healthcare?
- Getting nowhere with the NHS?
- Not sure what to do?

If your relative needs full-time care for health needs, he/she may be able to claim NHS Continuing Healthcare funding to cover 100% of care fees.
Thousands of elderly people in care are wrongly denied this funding.
With our Getting Started service you have one-to-one guidance to get your relative properly assessed for this free fully-funded NHS care.
The advice you receive will potentially save your relative tens of thousands of pounds in care fees – and help make sure they don’t lose their home.
To date we have a 100% success rate in helping our clients secure Continuing Care, whether that’s at the first assessment or via the NHS appeals process.
So, if your relative needs full-time care for health needs and…
- has not been assessed at all for NHS Continuing Healthcare
- has been assessed – but without your or your relative’s consent or involvement
- has been assessed using the ‘Checklist’ – but has been refused a full assessment
…we help you get a proper assessment done – and in the right way.
Pursuing NHS Continuing Care for an elderly relative can be very stressful. Many families find they have the wool pulled over their eyes by the various care authorities when they’re told their relative ‘won’t qualify’ for Continuing Care.
Always remember, no one has the right to tell you that you won’t qualify until the proper assessment process has been followed.
At Care To Be Different we help you each step of the way. We provide guidance and advice to show you what your options are and what you need to do next.
With our advice you’ll be able to show the NHS and your local authority that you know exactly what should happen. That makes a BIG difference to the outcome. You’ll also be in a MUCH stronger position to argue your case and pick up on flaws in procedure.
We’ve ‘been there and done it’. We understand the ins and outs of the Continuing Care assessment process. We make the care funding system clearer for you, and with our advice you have a big boost of confidence when challenging NHS comments and decisions.
Every case is slightly different, but our Getting Started service covers the following, as needed:
- Reviewing the information you provide about your relative’s health needs and care situation
- Drafting a letter for your PCT requesting a proper NHS Continuing Healthcare assessment and including key arguments relevant to your relative’s specific care needs
- Practical advice about what will happen at an assessment – and which assessment ‘tools’ are used
- Practical tips on preparing for an assessment, including advice about how to influence the assessors – plus the pitfalls to look out for
We suggest you book 1 hour of our time to start with. We then take you forward step by step. You can also call us or email us with questions, and we’ll respond with the guidance you need.
You simply ‘use up’ the time you’ve booked in the best way for you – and you can book additional time as you need it.
